Updated: May 5, 2023
What is Dekton?
Dekton is made by the Spanish company Cosentino who are the global leaders in natural quartz and stone architectural surfaces and have been for over 25 years. Dekton is a blend of porcelain, quartz stone and glass. It is a sintered stone also known as an “ultra-compact surface” in the world of countertop materials. It’s a brand new type of countertop surface that is created with a unique fabrication process called Sinterized Particle Technology. The process involves mixing the raw materials at a very high temperature until they fuse together. Then, they are cooled rapidly, which gives Dekton its ultra-compact structure.
The Benefits of Dekton
Dekton surfaces are highly durable, uv light resistant and can with stand high temperatures. Additionally their surface is non- porous, meaning nothing can penetrate it or change its colour. Thanks to its exceptional density, Dekton is very hard to scratch. You can cut right on the Dektonworktop without fear of damage, and you don't have to worry about rough-bottom pans sliding across its surface. This surface is highly stain resistant and does not need to be sealed. This puts it well ahead of other materials, including concrete, stone, wood, and quartzite, in terms of low-maintenance. The advantages that we have just considered contribute to another benefit of using this ultra-compact material. Versatility. Because it is so durable, DEKTON is also versatile. It can be used for various purposes including countertops, flooring, and wall panels and can be used both indoors and outdoors.
